Something big is taking shape.

If you hold on to my hand,
You’ll step into a dream,
Onto a magic island,
Like a painted summer scene.

Many events are in the works for Expo 67’s 60th anniversary. The program will be announced soon.

About

1967 2027

On April 28, 1967, Expo 67 opened its doors to the world. Over the course of six months, more than 50 million visitors came to explore pavilions featuring bold architecture, technological innovations, new cinematic experiences, music, and design. For many, Expo 67 remains a memorable event. For Montreal, it represented a significant moment in its history and its opening to the world. In 2027, we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Expo 67 with a series of events taking place throughout the year, both in Montreal and across Canada. For the Expo’s legacy extends far beyond the island’s borders. Traces of it can still be found in many regions, sometimes where you least expect them. Today, this legacy is preserved in museums, organizations, collections, and among the people who have helped keep its memory alive. It belongs to us. But for generations who did not experience the Expo, it is not always easy to understand and connect with what it represented. This 60th anniversary will therefore be an opportunity to share this wonderful story, exchange memories, and highlight what remains of one of the major events of the 20th century.

A committee made up of experts, ambassadors, and Expo ’67 enthusiasts is working on the celebrations. The idea is not only to look back on 1967, but also to show how Expo ’67 can still inform current thinking, particularly on major societal issues, creativity, the environment, and the way we envision the future. Several activities are in the works, and more will be added over the coming months. The full program will be unveiled in early 2027.
